🥴🚨🤠 PR ALERT 🥴🚨🤠 Deadlift: 500 (25 lb PR) Strict OHP: 215 (5 lb PR) Squat: 425 (20 lb PR) Bench: 305 (❌ hit 290 in training and 275 flew in warm ups, but 🤷🏽‍♂️🤙🏽) I haven’t put together more than three weeks of training in around six years, so I only had one goal for this program: be consistent. 5 1/2 months of training, 82 total workouts. Show up every time and do the work. It paid off big. Shoutout to @brettfain_ironvault @junkyard.strong for their coaching in-person, @jaffestrength for his helpful videos, and @jailhousestrong and the entire IVOG crew for their mental support.

My first powerlifting training session coached by @13enhampsonfitness went well imo, this first session is all about focusing on technique as will the next month or two and the the weight will come. Started with 47.5kg squats of 5x5 which had an insane butt wink but other than that felt okay. Then followed bench press, 60kg of 4x5 which I thought felt good and just like squats the form will soon improve on this lift too. But I don’t think it’s too bad for my first powerlifting session. Being a well rounded athlete is super important and in order to do that you must identify your goals and then create a plan. A lot of time I see people create a goal to improve one part of their body and their plan only focuses there. IF ONLY our bodies worked that way! Leg gains 🚨 (Bulgarian Split Squats.. thank me later). ⠀ These are one of my favorite exercises to help build mass in my legs. It challenges your balance and I personally feel them in my legs and glutes way more than regular squats. ⠀ I used a 50lb kettlebell, but of course start small & work your way up. On my plan to be 50 and fit, I have created this challenge! You can modify it according to your level. I’m going for it starting tomorrow! Who’s with me?! 💪squats: you don’t have to do a non-stop serie. I prefer to do maximum 20 per set. Adapt it to your own conditioning. Do squats with weights or without. Have trouble doing regular wide grip pull-ups? Try these close grip pull-ups as a way to gradually build your strength on the pull up. . . You'll find that while doing close grip pull-ups you can easily squeeze in 1 or 2 more reps. Why? . . Doing a pull-up with a close grip will allow you to bring your elbows in line with your shoulders at a 90° angle. This will then allow the biceps to aid in the remaining part of the pulling motion more than in a wide pull-up. Also, more elbow flexing = more biceps activation. . . 1 more reason why a close grip pull up feels "easier". Due to the biomechanical position mentioned earlier, your moment arm during this exercise allows you to produce more torque at the moment your elbows are at 90°. . . Long story short: Do close grip pull ups. They feel easier and work the same muscles as a regular pull up. They just recruit more biceps help thus lightening up the load on your latissimus dorsi. I'm reintroducing squats into my routine for variety and new stimulation. Here I am just assessing my mobility. Its not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I've never had any serious tightness or stiffness with ankles, hips or knees with all of the legwork I've done over the years. I always have a high level of attentiveness when doing any kind of heavy legwork. It has to be done smartly and thoughtfully based on your experience and mechanics of YOUR body. I've incorporated more ham-glute work, with good mornings, slow RDLS and ham-glute raises. I’ve had so much fun the past 5 Friday nights, competing and cheering others on📣 I don’t know what was better, competing or cheering for people and seeing them succeed🙌🏼 Both have equal value and I think the energy that came from both camps just electrified the gym. So many people got PR’s! Congratulations to everyone that thought they could and DID! I think the most memorable was Kam Petersen’s first ring muscle up! I am pretty sure everyone had a tear in their eye at that moment💯⁣⁣ ⁣⁣.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣Thanks to all the coaches, judges, people that came to watch/cheer and of course our gym owner Trevor. I love the energy that these competitions bring. I have always believed that you can leave a comp in two ways: 1. Dejected, discouraged, pissed off, mad at the world, down on your self and the list goes on… or 2. Take aways that help you know where to improve, where you have improved and the pure love of the sport♥ For me the latter is the obvious choice. I love learning new things and trying to improve where I can.
