So this may be a bit of a long post😂
But I thought I would lay it all out here because writing things down and hearing your feedback always helps me to get things straight in my mind.
I’m going through a bit of an experimental phase with my doll making at the moment. I’ve actually learnt a lot about myself lately. I know that to some, making dolls is a business (and that’s great), but to me it’s always been more than that. It’s my creative outlet, it’s a huge part of how I take care of myself mentally, it indulges one of my favorite things to do, observing and appreciating people in all their beautiful shapes and forms.
I have tried to make dolls in big uniform batches, but I always still end up spending so much time making each one unique and developing each personality.
And so I’ve come to a realization-
I love to make individual dolly people that are one of a kind. I’ve come full circle in my doll making actually😆
I’ve decided I must stay true to myself.
🌸I will be continuing with portrait dolls, I so enjoy making dolly versions of you guys, so feel free to message me anytime on those.
🌸I will make the larger heirloom Millie dolls every now and then. They are more suitable for children (although only for gentle play).
🌸Most importantly, I will be doing what I love and making one of a kind art dolls. Whether they be the tiny fynbos folk (I’ve heard you guys, and more are coming) or whether they be like this girl (my favorite doll I’ve made to date😍)
I’m taking the pressure off and making as the inspiration leads me.
One thing I’d love your guys feedback on is this:
I’ve always been more inclined to put a lot of detail into my dolls but I’ve been holding myself back lately because I want my dolls to be more attractive price wise. Do you guys think that’s wrong? Should I let loose and add all the details like I used to?🙈😆
As always, thank you for your support and sticking with me!🤗
