Pakistan's landscape is full of surprises. What one may think is impossible, nature proves that in this part of the world as possible.
This is the Karoonjhar mountain range, located in Tharparkar, Sindh Pakistan. Which I got to see, when I had the chance of visiting Nagarparkar. I was absolutely astonished to discover a whole mountain range on a desert. The scene looked quite surreal, at one end you see a fertile desert, and on top of it, you witness a layer of the world's most oldest rocks surrounding it in form of mountains. Witnessing a sunset here was quite a thing.
Karoonjhar has economic significance for the local people of the area, it is rich in deposits and plant medicinal values. These plants include shatavari, okra and wild onion. This mountain is economically so significant that there is a local saying "Karoonjhar yields a hundred kilos of gold regularly." But it was really sad to see that not many people chose to visit these places. There is not much of tourist influx in this part of Pakistan as compared to other regions of the country. Reason why, because this region is not well promoted from the tourism point of view and is only given coverage for it's tragadies like water shortage, food crisis, dealth from malnutrition and much more.
In comparison to the entire province of Sindh, this region is quite behind in developmental progress. Extensive tourism at the Tharparkar district can actually help boosting economy of the district and produce more opportunities.
