The inevitable plateau will hit at some point in our fat loss journey, At this point, it can be very easy to make drastic changes, Go low calories or even worse stop altogether and admit defeat. It doesn't need to be this way and I want to share with you a few strategies and changes you can make to push through these stumbling blocks. 1. Track your daily NEAT output 🚶‍♂️ This is your daily activity, from walking to the shops or moving around the house. With the help from a Fitbit, we can now track what our NEAT output is and make an effort to increase. If you're currently only completing 5,000 steps per day, try and increase this to 10,000 over time. 2. Steady state cardio 🏃‍♀️ Adding one or two 20-30 minute sessions of steady state cardio to your weekly routine can significantly increase your weekly calorie deficit. This can be done in the form of a walk, jog, bike or even swim. Whatever you chose to do make sure it's something that you enjoy and fits within your weekly routine. 3. Optimise your rest and recovery 😴 Don't overlook your recovery and general wellbeing when striving for progress. Getting 8-10 hours of quality sleep can significantly support your bodies ability to recover from training and stay consistent. 4. High and low-calorie strategies 🥘 I'm a firm believer we aren't meant to eat the same food or even the same quantity each day. With this in mind, building into your week 2 or 3 lower calorie days will help push through plateaus. This will largely come from lowering carbs (they are not evil) creating a larger deficit over the week. This will be a great opportunity to increase natural fats and help with general health and energy levels. Woah! Just woah! 💥 🚨 Perspective change 🚨 so, I always thought I was fasting correctly until I learned otherwise while taking my Personal Development time to listen to this audiobook. I have learned a lot about myself, what my goals really are, and how to execute them properly (moving forward). I highly suggest this read for anyone considering IF for a full understanding of the metabolic advantage it has on your body. There are far more benefits than you may think 🤔 dare you try it? Increased energy, better moods, weight loss, concentration, etc. I am going to adjust my fasting window and see what happens. I was doing the 16/8 approach and I’m going to try for 18/6, then progress to 20/4! My end goal *by August* is to do OMAD (one meal a day) with alternating on/off days. I was so happy to see that the kids hadn't eaten all the Bananas up before they start to get lots of brown spots... It meant I could make the families favourite healthy sweet muffin....Chocolate banana muffins. And even with a broken finger! Just shows how easy they are! Wet ingredients... Small pot of total yogurt or 1 cup. 3/4 Bananas (depending on how many you have) 1tsp vanilla extract 1 egg Dry ingredients.. 1 cup of Oat flour 1/2 cup any gluten free flour 1 tsp bicarb of soda Pinch salt (2 scoops vanilla or chocolate protein powder if your making them for adults who want added protein) Mix up... Add choc chips! Put in muffin tins greased with coconut oil then in oven at 180 C for 20 - 25 mins. All my kids love these. I just enjoyed my last run leading into the @missoulamarathon this Sunday. Amber and I will be leaving early Saturday morning traveling to Montana. I’ve been sick the last 2.5 weeks so I think I’ve finally kicked it. There’s not much that compares to watching twilight turn to dawn and witness the sunrise while running.
