You’ve just been through something terrible, something painful, something you can’t quite describe. THIS WAS NOT WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. NOBODY TOLD ME THIS COULD HAPPEN. NOBODY IS REALLY TELLING ME ANYTHING RIGHT NOW.
And then, here you go, here’s your baby. You’re filled with every emotion. You’re amazed, in love, in awe, dumbfounded, emptied and quite possibly, traumatized. But there is no time to deal with any of those feelings. You are a mother now and you come second.
How are we supposed to be functional, loving, feeding, mind reading beings when our bodies are aching, our hearts are heavy and our brains are depleted?
I’m here to tell you, you do not need to continue in this way. There is a way out. I got out. I have helped countless other women get out as well. Parenting after pregnancy/birth trauma does not need to be traumatizing as well, okay?
I’d like you, for today, to find five minutes and close your eyes. Don’t worry about the noise or your own racing thoughts. Just sit with your eyes closed and breathe in through your nose and out through your nose. For this exercise, I want you to think about either a happy memory or something happy that you would like to happen. For the next few minutes I want you to picture every detail of that memory or that wish. What is the smell, what are the colors, what are you wearing, what are the sounds? And then you’re done for the day. That’s it. A simple exercise that will take you five minutes and one that is now starting to tell your brain some different, more loving information. Don’t undermine simple moments. They add up to bigger ones and those bigger moments change your life-they change the world. 🌎 💕🌈✨ #pregnancytrauma #birthtrauma #birthtraumarecovery #motherhood #parenting #askforhelp #momsarebadass #parentingcoach #trauma #healingfromtrauma #smallmomentsofcalm #parenthood #meditation
