Health update on Finley.
So 3 vets and about 3,000 dollars later we find out that he has inflammation in his small intestine.
The first vet thought it was hypoglycemia and he didn't get better.
Second vet thought it was pancreatitis and he didn't get better.
I finally took him to a specialist and we did several tests to find out he didn't have pancreatitis after all. (I had been treating him for that for months)
He was finally able to go on his first walk in months as he had been to weak to do so before.
He lost nearly half his body weight over these few months and the vet wasn't sure he could bounce back.
He is on steroids temporarily to calm the inflammation and increase his appetite and so far so good.
He has to stay on a special and unfortunately expensive dog food indefinitely but as long as he eats I'm a happy momma.
I absolutely adore this dog and as stressful and expensive as this whole process has been I can finally see Finley being Finley again.
I will start posting again now that he is happy and able to go out and do things.
Last thing, I know that getting a dog you are basically agreeing to take care of that dog no matter what the cost but there isn't a rule that you cant ask for a little help. Maybe it's a stupid thing to ask but a friend of mine thought it may be a good idea to make a GoFundMe for his vet bills since they were pretty heafty.
I am not trying to be lazy and make other pay, I have 2 jobs but sometimes expenses this large can really hit hard. I don't need the entire bill taken care of as I was the one who made the choice to do the expensive tests but a little help would be immensely appreciated.
