Sunday funday in the shop and outside: This morning, I cut and fit my first set of pins for the dovetails on the sake and tea cabinet. It was really pleasing to see my first set of these come together so well, especially knowing that I had done it all by hand. I then roughed out the waste for the next two sets of pins. However, and as pleasing as it is, I found this a bit tedious, so I decided to take a break and build myself a storage shed in the back, for the mounting pile of furniture I've made as I amass enough to take to a show or get them sold.
Before I could start, I had to run to the hardware store first to get a glue gun (my other one broke just yesterday), but I got back around 12:30, and got started, first having to cut limbs back from the tree and getting them cleaned up.
Picture 6 shows how far I got before hunger got the best of me, and I stopped to have "breakfast". Well...it was salsa and chips. (I usually don't eat much til evening). After that and a few glasses of water, I went back out and managed to get the roof on, after having to trim a few more tree limbs back.
Getting the first corner rafters set is a little hard to do solo, but it's not too bad, and easy once the ridge board is set. But alas, I'm now out of material, so I'll have to wait to do the wall and roof sheeting until I feel like shoving it all into my poor little Honda again...(yeah, all the material for this shed came in my Civic over the course of a few trips). Anyway, 4 hours isn't bad to have gotten this far on it today.
And now, those next two sets of pins are telling me they're ready to be worked again. Maybe later this evening. Right now, I just want to sit.
