It was the summer of 2016. My family and I had just returned from living in the Philippines for ten years, where I worked in real estate and property development. I was still flying back and forth between LA and Manila, tying up some loose ends, when my brother in law Rick Borja asked me if I wanted to do some work for Go West. It sounded interesting enough, so I agreed.
My first event was as a production coordinator for the CBRE Water Garden Event. I had a great time working that event, so when Rick asked me if I wanted to be stage manager for the upcoming KB Home Supplier Conference, I immediately said yes. I had never stage managed before, but as the great Richard Branson once said, “if somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later.” And that’s exactly what I did. It was basically on the job training, and I had a blast!
Fast forward three years and dozens of shows later, and I can honestly say that I love what I do. I really enjoy working with our clients and helping them deliver their message, but most of all, I love working with our Go West team and creating magical memories out of an empty ballroom.
I want to thank David and Rick for believing in me and for entrusting their valuable clients to my care. I also want to thank Bradley Barber and Richard Yearwood for teaching me everything I know about stage managing. I truly love my Go West family, and I look forward to being a part of more magical moments to come!
